Surgical wards
There are 5 surgical wards in the Outaouais, open from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, and for emergencies, in the following hospitals:
- Gatineau Hospital
- Hull Hospital
- Papineau Hospital
- Pontiac Hospital
- Maniwaki Hospital
Each hospital specializes in certain areas and also does general surgery.
The onsite teams include:
- A surgeon
- An anesthesiologist
- A respiratory therapist
- Nursing staff
- Orderlies
Pre-admission
A pre-admission service preps you for your surgery. A nurse gathers information on your health and medical history, and ensures that your medical record is complete (lab results, tests, consultations), and that you are ready for surgery. The nurse also lets you know what will take place the day of the surgery.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, anyone requiring surgery must be tested for Covid-19. Details of this procedure can be found here.
