Care and services for all, close to you...

In this section, you will find the care and services provided by the CISSS de l'Outaouais divided according to your needs and the population group to which you belong.

Services can be classified according to whether they are accessible in the community or in hospital. Next, you will find specific services for children, youth and families, for people with a loss of autonomy or living with a disability, as well as for people with a mental health problem or addiction. Finally, a section is also devoted to end-of-life care.

The CISSS de l'Outaouais intends to organize its services to best meet your needs as close to you as possible.

 

Telehealth

Within the CISSS de l'Outaouais, many types of care and services are already offered remotely or virtually. Some health care teams offer appointments online, by phone or by email when possible to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19. These encounters are known as a virtual consultation (VC). They are also known as "teleconsultations" in the broader context of telehealth.

Setting up your technology equipment

  • You will need to know what type of technology equipment is needed to participate in a VC.
  • Ask if it will be an email, a phone call or a video call. What program or application will be used?
  • You may need to download an application and create an account first.
  • If you don't know how to set up your technology, ask someone for help.

Know your privacy, security and confidentiality rights

  • Your health care organization should have information available on its website regarding your privacy, security and confidentiality. If you have any questions, please ask your provider at the beginning of your resume.
  • Know how to report or learn about a possible breach of security, privacy or intrusion related to your resume.

Preparing for your virtual consultation

Make sure your technology equipment is properly configured.

  • If applicable, are your microphone and video camera working properly?
  • Are you in a quiet location so that you can easily hear and be heard?
  • Would you like a family member or caregiver to be present, to take notes or ask questions?

Make sure all your documents are ready before the meeting, including :

  • your health card
  • a pen and paper to record information and instructions
  • a list of medications you are taking, both prescription and non-prescription, including vitamins, herbal remedies and supplements
  • Notes on your medical history, symptoms, and any questions you may have

Active participation in your virtual consultation

  • At the beginning of your CV, your health care professional will ask for your consent to participate.
  • Your health care professional will also verify your identity by asking for two types of identification, such as your name, date of birth, address, or health card number.
  • It is important that you actively express your needs, goals, and raise any other questions you may have during your CV, as you would in person.
  • You and your health care provider will work together to develop a plan of care that meets your needs and goals.
  • Before the call ends, make sure you understand your plan, how to manage your symptoms, and when you will need to follow up.
  • This means blood work, tests, prescriptions, referrals, follow-up with other members of your care team, etc.
  • Do you have the resources and tools to effectively manage your health during this time?

Follow-up after your virtual consultation

  • Make sure you are following your care plan and know how to follow up with your health care provider if your condition changes.
  • Ask for copies of your medical records or other relevant information.
