Microbiology

The microbiology outpatient clinic specializes in the investigation and treatment of suspected or diagnosed diseases or infections caused by microorganisms.

It provides consultation services as well as consultation, wound and post-hospitalization follow-up.

How do I access the services?

A request must be sent by the referring physician. This request must be approved by the microbiologist. If necessary, the referring physician and the specialist will consult directly to analyse the situation.

What to expect?

  • Registration with the clinic’s secretary.
  • A short assessment by the nurse
  • A meeting with the specialist
  • Diagnostic tests if necessary
  • Specialist’s decision on completion of follow-up

Depending on your health condition, many follow-up appointments may be necessary.

Length of appointment: allow for 1 to 4 hours, depending on the procedures.

Follow-up care of wounds and antibiotic therapy are provided at local community service centres (CLSC).

Support for follow-up care is also provided by the chronic wound care clinic.
