Cardiology

Cardiology outpatient clinics provide consultation and follow-up services for patients with a suspected or diagnosed heart condition.

The cardiology department also provides tertiary care services for adults at the Hull Hospital. The hemodynamics department is the referral centre for primary angioplasty for all cases of acute myocardial infarction in the Outaouais region.

How do I access the services?

You must be referred by a doctor or emergency physician.

A secretary or the booking department will contact you directly to schedule your appointment.

What to expect?

  • The secretary will call you to schedule your appointment.
  • Basic care provided by a nurse or a nursing assistant.
  • Consultation, treatment follow-up and/or the issuing of a diagnosis by the physician or specialist.
  • During the consultation, you will be assessed by the physician, who will determine whether further tests are required to make sure you get the treatment you need.

Other services

  • Hemodynamics: A hemodynamic test determines the condition of your cardiac arteries, muscle and valves (coronary angiography). If warranted by the results, you may undergo a procedure (angioplasty).
  • Electrocardiology service: for further tests: ECG test, stress test, 24-hour Holter monitoring, tests with a medium-term arrhythmia recorder, and pacemaker and defibrillator monitoring.
  • Outaouais Heart Failure Clinic (Clinique d’insuffisance cardiaque de l’Outaouais - CICO): monitors people with heart failure.
  • Cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention: provides education and support for people who have had cardiovascular problems.
